AL-KHALIL (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) detonated at dawn Thursday the house of martyr Hasan Qafisha in al-Khalil City as part of the mass punishment policy pursued against families of Palestinians accused of carrying out attacks on Israeli settlers or soldiers.
According to local sources, the IOF cordoned off Bir al-Mahjar area and al-Jami’ah neighborhood, blocked roads, encircled the apartment building where the home of martyr Qafisha was located, and forced all the residents of the building and other nearby homes to leave the area.
Later, Israeli military engineers planted the apartment with explosives and then detonated it. Other apartments and nearby buildings sustained damage as a result of the ensuing explosion.
Qafisha and two of his friends, Abdul-Qader and Nasser al-Qawasmi, were martyred on November 16, 2023 after they carried out a resistance operation at the Tunnel checkpoint in the west of Beit Jala City.
On December 30, the IOF notified the martyrs’ families of a military verdict ordering the demolition of their homes as a punitive measure. Later in last January, the IOF demolished two homes belonging to the families of martyrs Abdul-Qader and Nasser.
