WEST BANK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) kidnaped last night and at dawn Monday a number of Palestinian citizens during raids in the West Bank, amid clashes with local youths.
According to local sources, the IOF carried out a large scale arrest campaign in Qabatiya town, south of Jenin.
Resistance fighters reportedly showered Israeli troops and their vehicles with bullets and detonated explosive devices at them in Qabatiya town.
Local sources said that Israeli forces kidnaped about 40 citizens, including fathers and sons, interrogated them and then released most of them, adding that the IOF took 10 of those detainees with them.
The Israeli forces also clashed with angry youths in different areas of the town, delivered threat notices and handed a family a summons against its son, ordering him to appear at the Salem military base for interrogation.
In Qalqilya, the IOF kidnaped a young man from his home in Kafr Saba neighborhood in the city and another young man from his home in Kafr Qaddum town.
In Nablus, two young men were kidnaped by the IOF from their homes in the city, while another one was kidnaped following IOF raids on several homes in Khilat al-Amud area.
In Ramallah, Israeli forces broke into and ransacked the house of late Hamas official Omar al-Barghouthi and another house belonging to one of his relatives in Kobar village.
The IOF also stormed Beit Rima town, northwest of Ramallah, and kidnaped a citizen and his son from their home.
Another citizen was taken prisoner during an IOF raid in al-Masayef neighborhood in Ramallah City.
Two other young men were kidnaped during IOF raids in Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in southern Jericho and Abu Najim area in Bethlehem.
In al-Khalil, the IOF kidnaped one citizen from his home in al-Fawwar refugee camp, and savagely assaulted another citizen in the Old City.
Local sources explained that Israeli soldiers prevented Yasser al-Jabari from going to his home in al-Ras area in the Old City of al-Khalil and severely beat him, adding that he suffered injuries and was transferred to hospital for medical assistance.
In east Jerusalem, Israeli police forces kidnaped at dawn three young men, including two brothers, during a raid in Silwan district, south of the Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem.
Police forces also stormed Jabel Mukaber neighborhood in east Jerusalem and forced some young men to sign papers pledging not to enter the Aqsa Mosque during the holy month of Ramadan.
Meanwhile, police forces kidnaped a young man during a raid in Shuafat refugee camp in east Jerusalem and attacked young men and homes with tear gas canisters, stun grenades and skunk water. The Israeli police also closed the Shuafat camp checkpoint during the events.
