NABLUS (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) killed on Sunday evening a Palestinian young man at the Beit Furik checkpoint in the east of Nablus City.
The martyr was identified as 26-year-old Anas Duwaikat from Rujeib town in eastern Nablus.
Eyewitnesses said that Israeli soldiers opened fire at a car near the checkpoint, killing a young man, adding that the IOF took him away in an Israeli ambulance before announcing his martyrdom later.
The IOF closed the checkpoint in both directions of the road, claiming its soldiers there came under fire.
Later, the IOF handed over the Duwaikat’s body to an ambulance crew at the Rafidia Hospital in Nablus City.
Duwaikat was the third to be killed by IOF gunfire in the West Bank on Sunday. Two young men were already martyred in a morning raid in Tulkarem refugee camp.
In another incident, the IOF stormed on the same day the house of martyr Fadi Jamjoum in Shuafat refugee camp, northeast of Jerusalem, and took its measurements as a prelude to demolishing it.
Jamjoum was martyred last Friday after he carried out a shooting operation in the east of Ashkelon in the southern district of Israel (1948 occupied Palestine).
Violent clashes reportedly happened between local youths and Israeli soldiers during the IOF raid on martyr Jamjoum’s house.
