IOF violates ceasefire, detonates structure in southern Lebanon

BEIRUT,(Palestine Foundation Information Center) Israeli occupation forces (IOF) violated the Lebanon ceasefire agreement again early Thursday morning, advancing into the southern Lebanese town of Houla and blowing up a livestock shelter across from the Israeli military post of Al-Abad, according to Lebanon’s state-run news agency.

The agency reported that an Israeli military unit crossed into Lebanese territory at approximately 4:00 a.m., penetrating nearly 800 meters beyond the border. Shortly after the incursion, the unit detonated an explosive device, the exact nature of which remains under investigation by Lebanese authorities.

Later reports confirmed that the explosion destroyed a room used to shelter livestock, raising concerns about the IOF’s continued targeting of civilian infrastructure.

In a related incident, the Lebanese National News Agency said two Israeli surveillance drones were spotted flying over the city of Nabatieh and the surrounding towns of Zebdin and Kfar Kourz in southern Lebanon, further intensifying local fears of renewed hostilities.

These developments come amid growing tensions along Lebanon’s southern frontier, where repeated Israeli raids have continued to target civilian areas despite a ceasefire agreement in effect since November 27, 2024.

Despite the agreement, Israel has violated the ceasefire more than 3,000 times, resulting in the martyrdom of at least 258 people and the injuring of 562 others. Lebanese officials have condemned the continued Israeli incursions and demanded international accountability.

The IOF has carried out a partial withdrawal from southern Lebanon but continues to occupy five strategic hills seized during the recent war, in addition to longstanding Israeli-held territory in violation of international law.
