GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The International Organization for Migration (IOM) announced that more than 172,000 people have been displaced in the Gaza Strip within one week due to intense Israeli attacks and the ongoing blockade.
This was stated in a post by the UN-affiliated organization on its X account, where it noted the continuation of large-scale displacement operations in the Gaza Strip.
It explained that since the collapse of the ceasefire on March 18, 2025, an estimated 610,000 people have fled violence or evacuation warnings.
The organization confirmed that over 172,000 people have been displaced in the Gaza Strip in the past seven days, including 10,000 in the last 24 hours, calling for immediate “humanitarian access.”
On March 18, Israel reneged on the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that had been in effect since January 19, and resumed its campaign of genocide against the Gaza Strip, despite Hamas’s adherence to all terms of the agreement.
On May 18, the Israeli occupation army expanded its ground offensive with the aim of permanently occupying the Gaza Strip. The occupation forces are forcing residents to flee through near-daily “evacuation warnings.”
Since October 7, 2023, Palestinians in the Gaza Strip have been repeatedly displaced due to the genocidal war waged by the occupation with unwavering US support. This has resulted in more than 175,000 Palestinians killed or injured—most of them children and women—and over 11,000 missing, along with hundreds of thousands displaced.
Israel has imposed a blockade on the Strip for 18 years. Now, approximately 1.5 million Palestinians out of about 2.4 million are homeless, as the genocidal war has destroyed their homes. The Strip is also suffering from severe famine due to Israel’s closure of border crossings before humanitarian aid.
