At least 10 Syrians were killed and others injured after an Israeli raid in Beit Jinn in rural Damascus, according to Syrian state TV (Al-Ikhbariya).
The Syrian news agency reported that Israeli occupation forces bombed Beit Jinn with artillery at 3:40 AM, followed by an Israeli military incursion into the town. During the raid, the Israeli forces arrested three individuals before withdrawing.
The report stated that residents of the town confronted the invading forces, who responded with heavy gunfire, sparking violent clashes between the locals and the Israeli troops.
A Syrian medical official confirmed that five members of a single family were among the victims, including two children.
Syrian media also reported that the Israeli army attempted to arrest a local resident, prompting an armed confrontation with townspeople. The airstrike reportedly took place after an Israeli military patrol was besieged during its ground operation in the area.
After the clashes, the Israeli forces withdrew and took up positions on Bat Al-Warda Hill on the outskirts of Beit Jinn. Israeli Channel Kan confirmed that the withdrawal occurred two hours later.
Al-Ikhbariya stated that “Israeli warplanes continue to strike the town, targeting civilians.”
The Israeli site Hadashot Bezman reported that an Israeli helicopter landed at Sheba Hospital carrying wounded soldiers from Beit Jinn.
The Israeli military acknowledged that five of its soldiers were wounded, including three in critical condition, in the Beit Jinn clashes in rural Damascus.
Just a day earlier, Israeli forces had shelled Tel Ahmar in rural Quneitra with multiple artillery rounds, and renewed their incursion into the province at the Umm Batnah junction in northern Quneitra, where three military vehicles entered.
