BEIRUT (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli army renewed its attacks on the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital Beirut at dawn Friday after a hiatus that lasted for several days, while mediators are working to reach a ceasefire agreement.
According to the Lebanese News Agency, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of violent raids, targeting several areas in Beirut’s southern suburb.
The raids left massive destruction in the targeted areas, as dozens of buildings were leveled to the ground, in addition to the outbreak of fires.
Israeli warplanes also launched five airstrikes on the city of Nabatieh in southern Lebanon and reportedly bombed, at 3:00 am, a clinic affiliated with the Ministry of Social Affairs.
On Thursday, 11 Lebanese were martyred in raids on Baalbek and the surrounding villages.
The Ministry of Health said that the number of martyrs has surged to 2,867 and the number of injured to 13,047 since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on the country.
The Lebanese Health Minister Firas Al-Abiad said on Thursday that 172 medical staffers have martyred since the beginning of the Israeli war on the country.
Al-Abiad added that the Israeli war on Lebanon has rendered eight hospitals out of service, condemning the international community’s negligence of the crimes committed by the Israeli army which enjoys western military support and political cover.
