Israel Destroys Key Civilian Facilities in Southern Lebanon

BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli warplanes bombed a vehicle in the town of Breqa in southern Lebanon on Monday afternoon, while Lebanese sources reported earlier in the day hearing the sound of an explosion in the city of Khiam, later determined to have resulted from an attack targeting the vicinity of a residential home.

According to the sources, an Israeli air force quadcopter drone dropped explosive devices on an agricultural room in the city of Khiam, causing the destruction of a nearby chicken coop located close to a home. The attack was carried out through the use of explosive charges dropped from the drone.

In a related development, Israeli reconnaissance drones were reported flying intensively at low altitude over the western Bekaa region, amid heightened tension and anticipation in the area.

Earlier on Monday, the Israeli occupation army announced that it had killed two members of Hezbollah in an air strike near the town of Jmeijmeh in southern Lebanon on Sunday.

In a statement, it claimed the two were “working on attempts to rehabilitate military infrastructure belonging to Hezbollah.”

Two people were martyred on Sunday as a result of Israeli shelling in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese authorities, while the Israeli army said it had targeted a Hezbollah operative in the southern region. The strike came as part of continued violations following the implementation of the ceasefire agreement.

The Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said in a statement that two people were martyred after an Israeli drone strike targeted a car on a road linking the towns of Khirbet Selm and Jmeijmeh in the Bint Jbeil district in southern Lebanon.

The ceasefire agreement was intended to put an end to Israeli aggression against Lebanon, which began in October 2023 and escalated into a full-scale war in September 2024, resulting in more than 4,000 martyrs and over 17,000 wounded.

According to reports by the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), Israeli forces have committed more than 10,000 violations since the agreement came into effect in late November 2024, leading to the killing and injury of hundreds of Lebanese civilians, in addition to widespread material destruction.

Israel continues to violate the agreement by maintaining its occupation of five Lebanese hills in the south that it seized during the most recent war, along with other Lebanese areas that have remained under occupation for decades.
