Israel Detains 600 Palestinian Women Amid Genocide

NAZARETH, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)

The Palestine Information Center “Ma’ta” documented around 600 cases of arrests of women and girls carried out by Israeli occupation forces since the start of the genocide in the Gaza Strip, a figure that reflects an unprecedented escalation in the direct targeting of women in Palestinian towns and cities.

The center explains in its report that the arrests included night raids, home invasions, and transfers to various interrogation centers. It notes that more than 40 detainees were charged with what the occupation authorities describe as “incitement” on social media, while the center affirms that many of these cases stem from personal posts.

Ma’ta also said that 48 female prisoners remain inside Israeli jails to this day, including university students, mothers, and activists involved in community work.

The report conveys repeated complaints from the prisoners’ families and lawyers about harsh detention conditions and the lack of basic medical care.

Twelve detainees were placed under administrative detention, a procedure that allows imprisonment without charge or trial for renewable periods. Ma’ta considers this type of detention one of the most prominent pressure tools used against Palestinian women.

The center stresses that targeting women in arrest operations aims to undermine the Palestinian social structure, as women play a central role in caring for families and supporting the community, making the impact of their detention doubly severe.
