OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli forces have issued demolition orders for 23 residential and agricultural structures in the town of Abu Dis, southeast of Occupied Jerusalem, in a new escalation targeting the Palestinian presence around the city.
The Israeli forces raided the town, accompanied by crews from the so-called “Civil Administration,” storming various areas before delivering demolition notices to several inhabited homes and agricultural facilities, citing construction without permits.
The move comes as part of a broader, systematic demolition policy intensified by Israeli authorities across Occupied Jerusalem’s towns and neighborhoods, where restrictive permit systems are used as a tool to pressure Palestinian residents. Building permits are rarely granted to Palestinians, while settlement expansion continues to accelerate around the city.
Abu Dis, a Palestinian town adjacent to Occupied Jerusalem, has for years faced ongoing restrictions, including demolitions, stop-work orders, land confiscation, and the construction of settlement roads, factors that further exacerbate residents’ hardships and undermine prospects for urban and economic development.
Observers say these measures are part of a wider policy aimed at altering the demographic reality of Occupied Jerusalem and its surroundings by reducing the Palestinian presence and imposing new facts on the ground, within the context of broader settlement expansion across the occupied West Bank.
