BEIRUT (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli army continued on Wednesday its bloody war on Lebanon and escalated its military operation for the 24th day, bombing inhabited homes and attempting to advance in its ground incursion into the country, amid fierce confrontation by Hezbollah which continued its counterattacks and fierce confrontation at the border areas.
Israeli warplanes launched at least two airstrikes on the Haret Hreik neighborhood in the southern suburb of Beirut, early Wednesday, for the first time in several days.
Lebanese sources reported that one of the strikes targeted a residential building, where smoke columns were seen rising from the place and a huge explosion was heard, according to eyewitnesses.
The Lebanese Health Ministry announced the martyrdom of three people and five others in two Israeli airstrikes that targeted the towns of Touline and Sarbin, respectively.
Local sources said that Israeli warplanes launched several raids on a number of villages and towns in southern Lebanon, Al-Tufah and the Nabatieh regions, and renewed bombing of the outskirts of the town of Aita Al-Shaab in the south.
The Ministry of Health announced the rise of the death toll of the ongoing Israeli aggression on Lebanon since October 8, 2023, to 2,350 martyrs, in addition to 10,906 wounded.
For its part, the Lebanese Hezbollah party accused the Israeli army of bombing several Lebanese towns on Tuesday with internationally-banned bombs.
In a statement, the Hezbollah’s media relations office documented the targeted sites of the Israeli attacks, calling them “barbaric crimes” added to the series of the Israeli crimes against the Lebanese and Palestinian peoples.
Hezbollah called on the relevant authorities in Lebanon as well as the international human rights and humanitarian organizations to condemn this heinous crime, saying it reflects Israel’s scandalous ignorance of all international covenants, norms and laws, especially in wartime.
