JENIN (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) announced the intention to demolish more than 60 buildings in Jenin camp in the northern West Bank as part of their weeks-long aggression on Jenin City and its camp.
The demolition process would be the largest Israeli house demolition operation in Jenin camp, targeting 66 homes.
The demolition operation is scheduled to take place on Thursday, local sources said.
The Israeli occupation army launched a large-scale military operation in the northern West Bank 58 days ago, unleashing a violent campaign in Jenin that resulted in the death and injury of dozens of civilians, widespread destruction of homes and public and private property, and the displacement of thousands.
The operation later expanded to Tulkarem and Tubas, targeting mainly the refugee camps of Tulkarem, Nur Shams, and al-Fari’ah.
In response to Israel’s demolition decision, the Hamas Movement stated that the demolition of over 95 residential buildings in the Jenin camp is a new crime that has been added to Israel’s list of crimes against the Palestinian people.
The demolition notices are part of the Israeli occupation’s 58-day aggression, which has destroyed over 512 homes and facilities in the camp and forced over 21,000 residents to leave, the Movement said.
The increasing terrorism in the Jenin camp, according to Hamas, is occurring amid international silence, with the world community turning a blind eye to the ongoing genocidal war against the people of the West Bank and Gaza Strip, it added.
Affirming the Palestinian people’s right to defend their land and holy sites, Hamas called on the Palestinians and their resistance to stand firm against the Israeli plots.
