Israeli army advances into the village of Ma’alula in Quneitra and builds military road

DAMASCUS (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupying army forces advanced into the Syrian village of Ma’alula in Quneitra and began to carve out a road extending from the border towards a military point.

Local sources reported that a force from the occupying army advanced into the western part of the village of Ma’alula in the Quneitra countryside, while engineering vehicles worked on building a road from the occupied Syrian Golan Heights towards Dara’iyah and the surrounding military points in the area.

Last month, the occupying forces entered the region and took control of heavy weapons at military sites, while they advanced again into the villages of Al-Asha and Abu Ghara in the southern Quneitra countryside during this month, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

During this month, the occupying forces advanced into a large number of villages and towns in Quneitra, including the village of Al-Hamidiyah and Jbatha Al-Khashab, where a young man was martyred after being shot, as well as the village of Kodnah in southern Quneitra, where they leveled groves, declaring the areas they controlled as military zones and preventing residents from entering.

Residents of the Syrian Quneitra province are calling for an end to the advance of the occupying forces in the province, which has marred their joy over the fall of the Assad regime and the restoration of security and tranquility in the region.

Simultaneously with the escalation of Israeli airstrikes and increased ground incursions following the fall of the Baath regime in Syria, the occupying forces took control of the Quneitra Governorate building and converted it into a military base.

The Israeli forces established earthen barriers around the military base, equipped it with monitoring and tracking devices. The shoot in the air to intimidate civilian residents who approach the area. A curfew is imposed in the occupied villages after 3 PM.

Following the overthrow of the Assad regime in Syria on the eighth of last month, the occupying forces intensified their airstrikes across various parts of the country, causing the destruction of military infrastructure and remaining facilities of the regime’s army, while expanding their occupation of the Golan Heights and advancing on the ground in Quneitra.
