Israeli army imposes W. Bank closure, kidnaps Palestinians

WEST BANK  (Palestine Foundation Information Center) As the Israeli occupation army announced its decision to intensify the presence of its forces in the West Bank, it started yesterday, on the eve of the Yom Kippur holiday, to block the entrances of Jerusalem and the areas around it, amid arrest campaigns.

According to media sources, Israeli forces started on Friday evening to close all the entrances of the towns and villages on the outskirts of Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses said that the Israeli army closed the entrances of several towns and villages around Jerusalem with concrete blocks and road barriers.

The Israeli army also closed on Saturday morning the bridge between Beit Hanina and Shuafat, north of Jerusalem, with concrete blocks and different barricades.

The eyewitnesses added that Israeli police forces, who were intensively deployed at the closed entrances of Jerusalem’s towns and villages, prevented local residents from leaving or entering at the pretext of securing Jewish celebrations on Yom Kippur.

Meanwhile, Palestinian media sources said that the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed last night different areas of the West Bank and Jerusalem and kidnaped several citizens form their homes.

Dozens of citizens were also kidnaped by the IOF near the Tarqumiyah checkpoint in the west of al-Khalil.

In Nablus, Israeli soldiers detained and interrogated foreign activists for about two hours in Qusra town.
