Israeli Army Threatens to Uproot Hundreds of Olive Trees in Bethlehem

BETHLEHEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation army delivered on Friday notices for the removal of hundreds of olive trees from swaths of land in the town of Teqoa, southeast of Bethlehem.

Local sources reported that Israeli forces put up military notifications on trees, fences and on the walls of homes in the town, ordering the uprooting of olive trees.

The sources explained that the military orders target olive groves along the town’s main road, from its western entrance to the al‑Hulqum area and southward to Marah Rabah village, covering a stretch of about one kilometer and affecting lands belonging to several Palestinian families.

The groves contain fruit-bearing olive trees that are over 35 years old, according to the sources, who warned that this military measure could eventually target other trees in the area as part of Israeli efforts to annex Palestinian lands for settlement projects.
