TULKAREM,(Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) continued their assault on the city of Tulkarem and its refugee camp for the 208th consecutive day, and on Nur Shams camp for the 194th day, carrying out arrests, home raids, and intensifying field operations.
According to the Tulkarem Media Committee’s daily update, IOF troops at dawn Friday carried out a new wave of arrests. Those detained included freed prisoner Bakr Mohammed Khreish, who was released in the most recent prisoner exchange deal and had been displaced from Tulkarem camp.
The IOF also detained Ayman Mohammed al-Derek after raiding his home in Deir al-Ghusoun, north of Tulkarem, along with Moein Osama Sabha, Yahya Majed Barhoush, Mohammed Sabha, and Abdel Rahim Abdullah Barhoush after storming their homes in the town of Kafr al-Labad, east of the district.
In recent days, a young man was shot and injured by the IOF near the separation wall in the town of Qaffin, north of Tulkarem, while another was wounded in the city’s eastern neighborhood. The raids also included the arrest of university student Tariq Ismat Heshmeh and three women during an incursion into the Thennabeh neighborhood, east of the city.
Tulkarem continues to witness daily raids and escalating attacks, with a tight siege imposed on Tulkarem and Nur Shams camps. The IOF has deployed armored vehicles and infantry units in the surrounding areas, barring residents from entering to check on their homes.
According to the committee, the ongoing assault has forcibly displaced more than 5,000 families, over 25,000 people, from the two camps. More than 600 homes have been completely destroyed, while 2,573 others were partially damaged. Both camps remain sealed off by earth mounds and military barriers, leaving them nearly devoid of life.
The campaign so far has left 14 Palestinian martyrs, including a child and two women, one of them eight months pregnant, along with dozens of injuries and arrests. Widespread destruction has also targeted infrastructure, homes, businesses, and vehicles.
