Israeli authorities blamed for reporter’s critical condition in JerusalemIsraeli authorities blamed for reporter’s critical condition in Jerusalem

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate has held the Israeli occupation authorities fully responsible for the severe deterioration in the health of freed journalist Mujahid Bani Mufleh, who remains in critical condition after his release from Israeli detention.

In a statement, the syndicate said Bani Mufleh, 36, was rushed to the Istishari Hospital in Ramallah one day after his release following seven months in Israeli prisons, where he was subjected to deliberate medical neglect, inappropriate medication, torture and systematic starvation.

Doctors later diagnosed him with a brain hemorrhage. He has remained in intensive care for more than a month.

The union called on international organizations, including the International Federation of Journalists, to open an urgent investigation into what it described as a deliberate and systematic targeting of Palestinian journalists.

In a separate development, Israeli authorities on Sunday released Jerusalem-based journalist Nisreen Salem al-Abed under restrictive conditions.

According to her lawyer, the court ordered her placed under 10 days of house arrest, banned her from Al-Aqsa Mosque for 180 days and prohibited her from using social media or any communication devices during the house arrest period. She was also required to post bail of 2,000 shekels (about $640).

Al-Abed was arrested last week while carrying out her journalistic work in Jerusalem, and her detention had been extended twice before the court approved her conditional release.
