OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli authorities on Monday delivered demolition notices targeting a number of residential and agricultural structures east of the town of Abu Dis, south of Occupied Jerusalem.
According to the Jerusalem Governorate, the Israeli forces distributed 23 demolition notices in the Umm al-Shuqalib area, placing dozens of Palestinian residents at risk of displacement and loss of their livelihoods.
The Governorate reported a significant escalation in Israeli violations during January 2026, with 62 demolition, eviction, and seizure notices issued. These included 44 eviction orders, 14 demolition orders, and four seizure decisions.
In a related context, the report also documented two incidents of agricultural land leveling, alongside 70 demolition operations concentrated in the Airport neighborhood as part of what has been termed the “Jerusalem Shield” operation, one of the largest collective demolition campaigns in the area.
According to a report by the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission, Israeli authorities carried out 538 demolition operations over the past year, destroying 1,400 structures. These included 304 inhabited homes, 74 uninhabited structures, 270 livelihood-related facilities, and 490 agricultural installations, in addition to issuing demolition notices for a further 991 structures.
