A Lebanese civilian was martyred Sunday evening after an Israeli drone struck a civilian vehicle in the town of Mansouri in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA).
The Israeli drone targeted an area near the Imam Musa al-Sadr sports field, igniting a fire at the strike site. Lebanese medical sources confirmed that the victim later succumbed to his injuries.
Local media identified the slain civilian as Mohammad Ali Shweikh, the principal of Mansouri School.
NNA reported that Israeli warplanes and reconnaissance drones also flew at low altitude over al-Zahrani and surrounding villages, as well as over towns in the western sector of the south, particularly in the Tyre district.
Israeli forces also fired a smoke grenade toward the Ain Square in Adaisseh and launched flares over the border town of Yaroun.
Armed clashes between Hezbollah and Israel erupted in October 2023 and escalated sharply, culminating in a full-scale war in September 2024 that killed more than 4,000 people, wounded around 17,000, and caused widespread destruction across Lebanon.
Israeli forces continue to violate ceasefire arrangements, maintaining its occupation of five Lebanese hilltops seized during the latest war, along with additional Lebanese territories that have remained under occupation for decades.
