BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli forces infiltrated the southern Lebanese town of Hebbariyah last night and kidnaped a senior member of the Islamic Group (Jamaa Islamiya).
The incident occurred at midnight when Israeli special forces reportedly sneaked into Lebanese territory and carried out the abduction. No further details were immediately available.
Lebanon’s al-Akhbar newspaper said that Israeli foot troops infiltrated approximately four kilometers into Lebanese territory and kidnaped Atwi Atwi, a senior official of the Islamic Group, after storming his house in Hebbariyah.
The newspaper added that the soldiers tied up his wife and seized documents and personal belongings from the house before taking him away.
For its part, the Islamic Group, a Lebanese political party, has condemned the Israeli occupation forces for abducting its official, Atwi Atwi, from his home.
The group said Atwi was taken to an unknown location after his family was terrorized and assaulted.
It called on the government to secure the release of Atwi and other detainees, protect its citizens, and put an end to Israel’s ongoing violations of Lebanon’s sovereignty.
