RAMALLAH, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs has unveiled appalling details about the detention of Samah Hajawi after her family’s home was brutally raided by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Monday.
In a statement, the Commission explained that Hajawi was kidnaped at 2:00 a.m. after Israeli forces violently broke into and rampaged through her home.
The Commission added that Hajawi was handcuffed and shuttled between multiple interrogation centers, while being subjected to harsh conditions and deprived of rest.
Hajawi told the Commission’s lawyer, who visited her, that she had been subjected to a thorough and humiliating search from the moment of her arrest.
The Commission described the degrading treatment Hajawi endured as “part of a deliberate, systematic policy designed to break female prisoners psychologically and physically.”
The Commission urged international human rights organizations to take immediate action to end Israel’s violations against Palestinian female prisoners, saying they face many repressive and inhumane measures in Israeli jails.
