Israeli forces conduct extensive raids and arrests across West Bank

WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation forces launched large-scale raids across various areas of the occupied West Bank in the early hours of Friday morning. The campaign included home invasions, property vandalism, and the arrest of three Palestinian civilians.

In the northern West Bank, Israeli forces re-arrested the blind cleric Sheikh Ezzedine Amarna after raiding and ransacking his home in the town of Ya’bad, southwest of Jenin.

The raids also led to the arrest of Mohammad al-Salwadi in the village of Tell, southwest of Nablus, and Uday Salahat during an incursion into the Jabal Abu Dhahir area in Jenin city.

Nablus witnessed a military incursion from the Awarta checkpoint, with Israeli military vehicles spreading around Balata al-Balad and the area of Joseph’s Tomb in the eastern part of the city. Several homes were raided in the Balata refugee camp.

In a related development, Israeli forces stormed a mosque in the Balata al-Balad area, sparking tension among residents.

Further raids occurred in the Ras Al-Aroud area between the towns of Sa’ir and Al-Shuyoukh, northeast of al-Khalil, leading to clashes with local youths. No injuries or arrests were reported.

The campaign extended to the towns of Dura (southwest of al-Khalil), Aqaba (north of Tubas), and included incursions into the city of Tubas, Al-Fara’a refugee camp to the south, and the town of Beita south of Nablus.

The raids are part of Israel’s ongoing escalation policy in the West Bank, marked by daily arrests and military raids.

Earlier on Thursday evening, a child was shot by Israeli forces in the town of Bir Nabala, northwest of Occupied Jerusalem, as the army set up a military checkpoint southeast of Bethlehem.

The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that its teams transported a 17-year-old boy from the Bir Nabala emergency center after he sustained three gunshot wounds to the hand, chest, and leg.

The Jerusalem Governorate stated that Israeli forces stormed the towns of Al-Jib and Bir Nabala, sparking confrontations during which two citizens were shot, one of whom was arrested. The Israeli forces also raided a health center in Bir Nabala.

Meanwhile, Israeli forces assaulted a young man at the entrance of Oweis neighborhood in Ras al-Amud, in the town of Silwan, and blocked the road leading to the area.

Separately, on Thursday evening, Israeli forces erected a military checkpoint at the entrance of al-Manshiya village, southeast of Bethlehem.

Khedr Abu Deih, the head of Al-Manshiya village council, reported that the army stopped and searched vehicles at the checkpoint and checked citizens’ IDs, causing a major traffic jam.

It’s worth noting that after 7 pm, the Al-Manshiya entrance becomes the only access point for multiple villages from Beit Fajjar and Marah Rabah to the towns of Surif and Sa’ir in the northern al-Khalil region.
