Israeli forces kill Palestinian teenager, injure about 80 others in Nablus

Nablus – Israeli occupation forces shot and killed a 16-year-old Palestinian boy and injured at least 80 others while escorting colonial settlers to Joseph’s Tomb in the occupied West Bank city of Nablus, earlier on Wednesday.

The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that Ghaith Yameen was shot in the head and killed in the vicinity of Joseph’s Tomb by Israeli forces earlier today.

Colonial Israeli settlers, protected by well-armed soldiers, stromed the Tomb early on Wednesday and were confronted by Palestinian residents who rejected their presence and storming of the city.

The Israeli forces violently dispersed the Palestinian residents by firing live ammunition, rubber-coated metal bullets and teargas canisters intensively and directly towards them, injuring at least 80 people, according to Palestinian medics.

19 of the injuries were caused by rubber-coated metal bullets, medics noted, and 67 suffered from suffocation after inhaling tear gas.

Stressing the need “to deter the occupation and hold it accountable for its heinous crimes,” the Palestinian education ministry also condemned Israel’s killing of the teen.

On Saturday, Israeli forces killed 17-year-old Palestinian Amjad al-Fayed during a military raid into the Jenin refugee camp as they shot him in the neck and chest.

Since the start of this year, Israeli forces have killed over 50 Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including veteran journalist of Al Jazeera Shireen Abu Akleh. Ghaith is the 12th Palestinian child killed by Israeli forces in 2022, according to Defense for Children- Palestine (DCIP).
