Israeli forces kill Palestinian youth at Jerusalem’s Al-Aqsa Mosque gate

Israeli occupation forces fatally shot a Palestinian youth at one of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s gates in occupied Jerusalem on Friday night.

Local sources reported that 26-year-old Palestinian Mohammad Khaled al-Osaibi was shot at around 11:00 pm by well-armed Israeli forces stationed at the Chain Gate (Bab al-Silsela) from a very short distance after he intervened to help a Palestinian woman who was being assaulted by Israeli forces and forced to leave mosque.

The youth died of his serious wounds about two hours later.

Israeli police claimed that Osaibi tried to grab an Israeli soldier’s weapon and was subsequently shot and “neutralized”.

The youth is a resident of the Houra town in the al-Naqab in southern 1948-occupied Palestine. He graduated from a medical school in Romania and recently passed an exam to practice medicine in the occupied territories.

The youth was killed when he went to pray at al-Aqsa Mosque in the holy month of Ramadan.

Following his killing, the Israeli forces shut down all the gates to Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Old City and attacked shopkeepers and vendors in the area. The
gates were later reopened.

Osaibi is the second Palestinian killed by Israeli forces in the holy month of Ramadan and the 91st Palestinian since the start of 2023.
