NABLUS (Palestine Foundation Information Center) An Israeli military court extended on Thursday the detention of Palestinian journalist Rasha Hirzallah for five more days in preparation for filing an indictment against her.
Israeli intelligence had served a summons to Hirzallah, 39, a few days ago for investigation on incitement charges on social media. She was then held for three days pending investigations.
Hirzallah, a resident of Nablus in the West Bank, was held in Hasharon jail and then later transferred to Damon jail, where most of the Palestinian female detainees are held.
Hirzallah is one of 80 Palestinian journalists detained by Israel since October 7 last year, the start of the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip. 49 of these journalists are still held in custody including six females.
The Israeli occupation authority escalated the targeting of Palestinian journalists since the start of the aggression on Gaza and held many of them in administrative detention.
Human rights sources said that Israeli occupation forces rounded up 9,100 Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank since 7 October 2023.
