Occupied Palestine – Israeli occupation Ministry of Health on Wednesday revealed it had discovered a new “unidentified” variant of COVID.
The novel variant — a combination of Omicron’s dominant subvariant BA.1 and another subvariant, BA.2 — caused light symptoms
The occupation Health Ministry said two travellers contracted it at Ben Gurion airport in Tel Aviv.
The two infected individuals had symptoms such as fever, headache and muscle pain.
However, it stated that it continues to follow up on these two cases.
Official Israeli radio quoted the head of the health ministry’s coronavirus taskforce, Salman Zarka, as saying that “the phenomenon of combined variants is well known.”
He added, “At this point, we’re not concerned about [the new variant leading to] serious cases.”
At the beginning of February, ‘Israel’ ended COVID restrictions.
It also ended the requirement to show vaccination status before going to restaurants, bars, gyms and hotels.
However, it kept this procedure in other places such as concert halls and cinemas, according to France24.
The Israeli occupation government will make a decision to abandon PCR tests for travellers entering the occupation state, Israeli media reported.
