AL-KHALIL, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), A 58-year-old Palestinian citizen was martyred late Saturday night in al-Khalil City after being shot by the Israeli occupation forces (IOF).
The martyr was identified as Shaker Jabari and his body was subsequently withheld by the Israeli army.
The Palestinian civil affairs authority informed the health ministry of Jabari’s death, saying that Israeli soldiers opened fire at him while he was inside his car in the Khilat Hadour area of al-Khalil, critically wounding him.
The IOF claimed at first that the Palestinian driver was trying to carry out a car-ramming attack, while eyewitnesses affirmed that Israeli soldiers opened fire at his car, with no reason.
According to the eyewitnesses, Israeli soldiers blocked an ambulance crew from administering first aid to Jabari, kidnaped him, and left his vehicle behind at the scene.
The IOF later backtracked on its previous claim that Jabari had attempted a car‑ramming attack after initially saying last night that its forces had opened fire at him on the grounds that he tried to run over soldiers in the city.
Immediately following the incident, Israeli forces closed the entrances of al-Khalil and fired tear gas canisters at citizens and their vehicles.
