Israeli occupation orders demolition of residential building in Occupied Jerusalem housing 17 families

OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Israeli occupation authorities issued a final demolition order for a residential building in the Al-Sawwana neighborhood of Occupied Jerusalem, which houses 17 Palestinian families. The families have been given only three days to evacuate.

According to the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli forces raided the area surrounding the building and delivered the final demolition order to its residents, giving them until this Saturday, July 26, to vacate. The demolition will result in the displacement of approximately 100 Palestinians.

The building was constructed in 1998, and the first demolition order was issued in 2003 on the pretext of being built without an Israeli permit. Since then, the residents have paid heavy fines to the Israeli municipality over the years.

The Governorate also noted that among the residents is the family of Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and head of the Higher Islamic Council.
