OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli police forces arrested Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic Movement in Israel, on Wednesday evening while he was in Occupied Jerusalem.
Witnesses reported that a special Israeli police unit arrested Sheikh Salah while he was in the occupied city to attend a Ramadan iftar with a Jerusalemite family before taking him to the Al-Maskobiyya interrogation center.
His lawyer, Khaled Zabarqa, said that the arrest followed a speech delivered by Sheikh Salah, which he described as “powerful,” while Israeli authorities claimed the arrest was due to “conduct likely to incite disorder.”
According to local sources, Sheikh Salah was detained from inside his private vehicle while on his way to attend the iftar amid escalating Israeli measures targeting leaders and activists in Occupied Jerusalem.
