OCCUPIED JERUSALEM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A Palestinian young man was martyred on Saturday morning when Israeli soldiers opened fire at him at the Qalandia checkpoint in the north of Occupied Jerusalem.
The Red Crescent said that one of its ambulance crews received the body of a young man at the Qalandia checkpoint and took him to hospital.
The Palestinian health ministry identified the young martyr as 27-year-old Tariq Gazawneh.
Immediately following the shooting incident, the Israeli police closed the checkpoint that connect Jerusalem with Ramallah and prevented Palestinian cars from moving in both directions of the road.
Eyewitnesses said that policemen at the checkpoint opened fire at the young man directly and with no reason.
His maternal uncle told al-Qastal news website that Gazawneh was the only son of his mother after his father died when he was a little child, adding that the martyr was a worker.
