Israeli Raids and Arrests Sweep Across the West Bank

WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli occupation forces carried out pre-dawn raids on Thursday across multiple areas of the West Bank, detaining more than 11 Palestinians, including a journalist.

In the village of Kafr Qaddum, east of Qalqilya, Israeli forces conducted a large-scale incursion, raiding several homes and arresting at least eight individuals, including an elderly person.

The raids extended to the towns of Beita and Odala, south of Nablus, where two local residents were arrested in Odala and Beita, following home raids.

In the central West Bank, journalist Qutaiba Hamdan was detained after Israeli occupation forces stormed his home in the town of Beitunia, west of Ramallah.

Overnight raids and arrest campaigns continue across cities and towns in the West Bank, often involving home invasions, property damage, and the use of certain locations as on-the-spot interrogation sites.

Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces closed the Atara military checkpoint north of Ramallah in the central West Bank on Wednesday evening.

Local sources reported that Israeli soldiers prevented vehicles from entering or exiting the checkpoint after its closure, causing severe traffic congestion and disrupting civilian movement.

In a related context, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission documented the presence of 916 military checkpoints and gates across the occupied Palestinian territories, including 243 installed after October 7, 2023.

Movement between cities, villages, and even neighboring towns within the same governorate now takes hours due to prolonged waiting at Israeli checkpoints, alongside the continued closure of other access points for months.

Meanwhile, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported the installation of 36 new checkpoints during the first three months of this year, noting that these restrictions hinder Palestinians’ access to essential services and workplaces.

OCHA added that there are a total of 288 road gates in the West Bank, accounting for roughly one-third of movement barriers, with around 60% of them frequently closed.
