OCCUPIED JERUSALEM(Palestine Foundation Information Center) A group of Jewish settlers seized a residential building in the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan town, south of Occupied Jerusalem, on Thursday.
Settlers from the “Ateret Cohanim” association seized the Shehadeh family’s building consisting of 5 apartments, claiming that Jews own its land since 1881.
The settlers seized the building after the Israeli Supreme Court rejected the appeal filed by the Shehadeh family against the confiscation order.
During the settlers’ incursion into the building, the Israeli police forces closed all roads leading to the Shehadeh family building, and attacked members of the Shehadeh family amid a heavy fire of sound bombs.
An Israeli court earlier issued a decision to displace four Palestinian families from the Batn al-Hawa neighborhood in Silwan, based on the claim of the “Ateret Cohanim” settlement association that 5 dunums and 200 square meters of the neighborhood’s lands have belonged to Jews since 1881.
