HEBRON, Sept 22 — 2025
A group of armed Israeli settlers seized a Palestinian-owned home in the Old City of al-Khalil (Hebron) on Sunday evening, raising Israeli flags over the property, according to local sources. The home, located in the Jabari neighborhood, belongs to Palestinian resident Aka Abdul-Majid al-Jabari.
Witnesses said dozens of settlers forcibly occupied a room and surrounding area of the house, marking the latest in a series of seizures in Hebron. Earlier this month, settlers, backed by Israeli forces, took over another home belonging to the Nasr family near the old municipality building.
Rights groups say such actions form part of a systematic campaign to expand Israeli settlement presence in Hebron, where settlers live under heavy military protection in the heart of the Palestinian city. Palestinians are often barred from accessing nearby areas, and many residents have been displaced over the years due to settler violence and home seizures.
The takeover comes as Israeli forces and settlers escalate attacks across the occupied West Bank amid the ongoing war on Gaza. According to Palestinian authorities, at least 1,018 Palestinians have been killed in the West Bank since October, nearly 7,000 wounded, and more than 18,500 arrested.
Human rights organizations warn that the growing number of settler incursions and property confiscations, alongside mass arrests and killings, highlight Israel’s entrenchment of occupation policies across Palestinian territories. Advocates have urged international intervention to prevent further forced displacement and protect Palestinians’ right to remain in their homes.
