IOF kidnaps Hamas official and other citizens in W. Bank raids

WEST BANK, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) kidnaped a number of Palestinian citizens, including senior Hamas official Jamal at-Tawil, during dawn raids in different areas of the West Bank on Monday.

According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society, Israeli special forces stormed the house of Jamal at-Tawil, 61, in al-Bireh City near Ramallah and kidnaped him after assaulting and mistreating members of his family.

Jamal at-Tawil is considered one of the most prominent Hamas leaders in Ramallah. He is a former prisoner who spent about 18 years in Israeli jails and was released last February as part of a prisoner exchange deal with the resistance in Gaza. During his most recent detention, he suffered from health problems as a result of his exposure to physical abuse at the hands of Israeli soldiers.

The IOF also kidnaped two young men from their homes during raids in al-Bireh City’s al-Umm ash-Sharayet neighborhood and Deir Abu Mash’al town in the northwest of Ramallah.

In Jericho, Israeli forces kidnaped seven young men, including an ex-detainee, following raids on homes in Aqabat Jabr refugee camp, as well as two others from their homes in Balata refugee camp.

In Tulkarem, one young man was reportedly taken prisoner during an IOF raid in Ertah neighborhood.
