OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) has ordered the Shuweiki family in east Jerusalem to evacuate their home in Jabel al‑Mukaber neighborhood as a prelude to demolishing it to make way for a Jewish settler project.
The homeowner, Nawal Shuweiki, said on Saturday that she and her family have lived in her house since they built it 30 years on her own piece of land.
She explained that the Israeli municipality in the holy city had issued a demolition notice for their home four years ago under the pretext of intending to build a settler road.
Last Monday, the municipality delivered a final eviction order ordering the Shuweiki to evacuate her home by next Sunday, threatening to impose heavy fines of up to 15,000 shekels if she failed to comply with the measure.
Last June, the Israeli municipality in Occupied Jerusalem announced a new plan aimed at expanding the illegal “Nof Zion” settlement, located in Jabel al‑Mukaber neighborhood, which overlooks the Aqsa Mosque.
