Jakarta – The Speaker of the Kuwaiti National Assembly called for the expulsion of the Israeli occupation delegation from the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).
Speaking at an IPU meeting in the Indonesian capital city of Jakarta on Saturday, Marzouq al-Ghanim noted that Kuwait is opposed to any kind of occupation.
“We definitely in principle condemn any occupation, and I’m talking from a country that was occupied 30 years ago.”
“How can they ask for expelling the Russian delegation or any other delegation from the IPU.”
“..for an invasion that took place days or weeks ago.”
“.. and not expelling the Israelis for the invasion that took place before 60 years.”
“So that’s a double standard and I don’t think that you as president accept such thing.”
Kuwait has long upheld a strict pro-Palestine stance.
It has also refused to normalise ties with the occupation state.
