NEW YORK (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, said that destroying the agency is almost one of the goals of the Israeli war on Gaza and all of Palestine.
At the Nobel Peace Prize award ceremony, Lazzarini said that if UNRWA had been chosen for the award, “it would have represented a great message to the Palestinian refugee community.”
“UNRWA is not the only one being attacked, but throughout the occupied Palestinian territories, UN and international NGO employees are being gradually destroyed by the Israeli occupation.”
He further pointed out that “Israeli efforts aim to strip the Palestinians of their refugee status and unilaterally change the parameters of the future political solution.”
Nihon Hidankyo, the Japanese atomic bomb survivors’ group, has won the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize “for its efforts to achieve a world free of nuclear weapons.”
