GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), Philippe Lazzarini, has accused Israel of continuing to silence those reporting on its atrocities in the Gaza Strip.
Lazzarini noted in a statement on X platform on Monday that more than 200 Palestinian journalists have been martyred in Gaza, saying Israel acts with complete impunity.
“I am horrified by the killing of another five journalists in Gaza”, He said, stressing the urgent need to protect media workers and allow international journalists into Gaza to support their Palestinian colleagues.
Since October 2023, Israel has openly and systematically threatened the killing of Palestinian journalists, forcing them to risk their lives documenting the Israeli crimes against civilians, including mass killings, starvation, and forced displacement.
On Sunday evening, Israeli occupation forces targeted a journalists’ tent at Al-Shifa Hospital in western Gaza City, killing seven people, among them five staff members from Al Jazeera TV.
According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, the death toll of journalists has now reached 238 since the start of the genocidal war on Gaza in October 2023.
