Lebanon counts 22 more Israeli violations of ceasefire

BEIRUT (Palestine Foundation Information Center)  The Israeli army on Sunday committed at least 22 more violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon that took effect last month to end more than a year of cross-border warfare with Hezbollah.

The violations included airstrikes, drones and fighter jet flights, destruction of homes, bulldozing streets, and artillery shelling.

According to the official Lebanese National News Agency (NNA), the Israeli warplanes launched 4 air raids on Houmin al-Fawqa and Deir al-Zahrati areas and two other strikes on a valley in Houmin.

Similar attacks were reported in valleys between the towns of Arabsalim, Houmin al-Fawqa, Deir al-Zahrani and Rumin, in southern Lebanon.

Earlier Sunday, the Israeli occupation army blew up five houses in the town of Aita al-Shaab, south of Lebanon.

“The occupation army deliberately booby-trapped at least five residential homes and blew them up in the town of Aita al-Shaab, in a continued violation of the ceasefire agreement,” NNA reported.

The Israeli army also leveled this morning lands in the outskirts of the towns of Maroun al-Ras and Yaroun.

Meanwhile, Israeli military vehicles penetrated the northern outskirts of the town of Maroun al-Ras, and positioned themselves near a house.

Another military patrol penetrated towards Wadi Khansa and Rayhana Bri in the Mari plain in the Arqoub area.

On Nov. 27, a cease-fire deal between Israel and Hezbollah came into force in the hope of ending 14 months of Israeli aggression on Lebanon. It is, however, described as fragile as dozens of Israeli violations were documented by Lebanon.

Under the terms of the cease-fire, Israel is to withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line de facto border in a phased manner while the Lebanese army deploys its forces in southern Lebanon within a maximum of 60 days.

Over 4,000 people have been killed and more than 16,500 injured in Israeli attacks on Lebanon and over one million others have been displaced since October 2023.
