BEIRUT, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Israeli air strikes across Lebanon killed at least five people on Friday as cross-border fighting escalated, while Hezbollah responded with multiple rocket barrages that injured dozens in northern Israel.
Lebanon’s National News Agency reported that two people were martyred and three others wounded after Israeli occupation forces struck a residential apartment in the town of Bar Elias in the central Bekaa Valley.
In Beirut’s southern suburbs, another person was martyred after an Israeli strike targeted a vehicle in the al-Jnah area. In southern Lebanon, a woman identified as Etaf Muallim Sabra was martyred and her husband injured when an Israeli strike hit their home in the town of Abba in Nabatieh district.
A separate Israeli drone strike on a vehicle along the Shaaitiya road in the Tyre district also killed one person. Israeli warplanes carried out additional strikes between the towns of Siddiqin and Ramadiya, as well as overnight attacks on the town of Qlayleh and the area of Tayr Falsayeh.
Israeli artillery also shelled the outskirts of the border towns of Qawzah and Ramiyah in Bint Jbeil district.
In response, Hezbollah announced a series of rocket attacks targeting Israeli troop gatherings along the southern border.
The group said its fighters fired rocket barrages toward Israeli military positions near Kfar Giladi, the Marj site opposite the Lebanese border town of Markaba, and several locations around the town of al-Khiam.
Additional rocket fire targeted Israeli troop concentrations near the Khiam detention center and positions near the border town of Maroun al-Ras, as well as the Namer al-Jamal site opposite the Lebanese village of Alma al-Shaab.
Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that rocket attacks attributed to Iran and Hezbollah struck northern Israel early Friday, injuring around 80 Israelis and damaging roughly 300 homes in the Galilee region after a missile hit a residential building.
A separate rocket reportedly struck a building in Kiryat Tivon near Haifa, causing damage but no casualties. Israeli media also reported that a missile fired from Iran toward Eilat and the Arava region was intercepted.
The escalation comes amid a widening regional war that began on 28 February after Israel and the US launched attacks on Iran, prompting Iranian missile and drone strikes against Israel. Israel later expanded its military operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon with air strikes and a limited ground incursion into southern Lebanon.
