LONDON(Palestine Foundation Information Center)The League of Parliamentarians for Al-Quds (LP4Q) warned, in a statement on Wednesday, of “Israel’s deliberate assassination of members of Palestinian Legislative Council in the Gaza Strip, by bombing their homes and killing them along with their families.”
The League said, “Israeli heinous crimes expose the nature and brutality of the Israeli occupation, its disregard for international laws and human rights, disrespect of human lives and its deliberate targeting of Palestinian democracy and national figures.”
The statement added, “The Israeli crimes come in line with Israel’s policy of denying the existence of the Palestinian people, pursued since the Nakba in 1948.”
The LP4Q denounced “the silence of international and parliamentary institutions regarding the Israeli assassination of deputies of the Palestinian Legislative Council, referring to the assassination of MP Khamis Al-Najjar on Tuesday, which was preceded by the assassination of the Council’s Speaker Ahmed Bahar, and MP Jamila Al-Shanti.”
“Keeping silent about the Israeli crimes carried out in Gaza indicates complicity with the occupation. Tolerating such crimes gives Israel the green light to carry on with its violation of the international law and commission of more genocidal war crimes,” the statement added.
The LP4Q is an independent institution established in October 2015 and headquartered in Istanbul. The League includes in its general assembly about 1,500 current and former parliamentarians from 75 countries, and its executive body includes members from different continents.
The League is an observer member of the Arab Parliamentary Union, the African Parliamentary Union (APU), the Global Organization of Parliamentarians Against Corruption (GOPAC), and the Union of Councils of Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUIC).
For the 82nd day in a row, Israel has been waging a bloody aggression on the Gaza Strip, backed by the US and European countries, claiming the lives of thousands of Palestinians, injuring thousands of others, destroying houses and civilian facilities and blocking the entry of basic needs of food, water, and fuel into the besieged enclave.
The Israeli ongoing aggression has led to massive destruction of infrastructure, an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe, killing 21,110 citizens and injuring 55,243 others since October 7, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
