Masri: Israeli captives cannot return without a swap deal

GAZA (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Senior Hamas official Mushir al-Masri has emphasized that the Israeli captives cannot return to their families alive without a prisoner exchange deal, reiterating his Movement’s readiness to engage in talks over the second phase of the ceasefire agreement.

In his first appearance since the Israeli genocidal war on Gaza started, Masri told Al Jazeera satellite channel on Sunday that the Palestinian resistance is ready for a comprehensive deal involving a prisoner swap, a lasting truce, and a complete Israeli army withdrawal from Gaza.

Masri pointed out that the guarantors for the implementation of the ceasefire agreement as a whole are the UN, the US, Qatar and Egypt according to the agreement itself, calling on the mediators to pressure the Israeli government to respect its obligations under the agreement.

Masri also said that his Movement does not seek authority or to be in control of Gaza, but he affirmed that Hamas “cannot abandon the Palestinian people or withdraw from its people’s choices.”

“Hamas is a reality that can never be obliterated,” he underscored.
