OCCUPIED JERUSALEM, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Approximately 40,000 worshipers performed the Isha and Taraweeh prayers at Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday evening, despite restrictions imposed by Israeli authorities on access to the Old City.
Thousands of Palestinians gathered at the Mosque to pray in a spiritual atmosphere, amid a heavy presence of Israeli forces at the entrances to the Old City and around the compound. Officers checked IDs of several young men and prevented some from entering.
In a related development, Israeli forces detained a young man from the compound and took him to an interrogation center in Occupied Jerusalem.
During the holy month of Ramadan, the Aqsa Mosque witnesses a large influx of worshipers, while strict Israeli measures and entry restrictions continue to be imposed on those coming from the West Bank, along with age-based restrictions at certain times.
