Missile Shrapnel Kills Three Women West of al-Khalil, Others Injured

WEST BANK, (Palestine Foundation Information Center), Three women were killed and several others injured on Wednesday evening after missile shrapnel fell on the town of Beit Awa, southwest of al-Khalil.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that its teams “handled three victims” who were killed by missile fragments, and their bodies were transferred to a hospital.

Local sources said that shrapnel struck a women’s salon, injuring a number of women, some of whom were reported to be in critical condition.

The same sources added that missile debris fell in multiple locations across al-Khalil Governorate.

Since the start of the US-Israeli escalation against Iran on February 28, explosive ordnance units and civil defense teams have dealt with falling missile remnants and projectiles in several areas across the West Bank, resulting in injuries and property damage.

Police bomb disposal units have warned residents not to approach any missile fragments or debris for safety reasons.

In a statement, police urged citizens to avoid any suspicious objects or remnants of missiles that may fall in residential areas, refrain from staying in open spaces during strikes or climbing onto rooftops, and seek safe shelter immediately. They also stressed not to touch or move any such objects under any circumstances, as they may contain hazardous, toxic, or explosive materials.

Authorities further called on residents to keep children and others away from impact sites, avoid gathering near them, and report immediately to police via the emergency number (100) or civil defense at (102), providing the exact location if possible.

The authorities also warned against attempting to photograph or approach such objects due to the danger involved and emphasized the importance of following official instructions until specialized teams arrive.

Police confirmed that bomb disposal units are operating around the clock to safely handle these materials and ensure affected areas are secure, stressing that public cooperation is essential to protect lives and property.
