QB pays tribute to fallen leaders Mohamed Sinwar and Abu Obeida

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center)، Al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, confirmed that its spokesman Abu Obeida and its chief of staff Mohamed as-Sinwar were martyred in Israeli strikes earlier this year.

“A newly appointed spokesman for al‑Qassam Brigades, also carrying the name Abu Obeida, made the announcement Monday evening.” He announced the martyrdom of other leaders and commanders.

The Israeli occupation army said last May that it had killed Mohamed as-Sinwar, the younger brother of former Hamas leader Yehya Sinwar. Three months later, it said it had also killed Abu Obeida.

Abu Obeida’s last statement was in early September as the Israeli army launched a new large-scale military attack on Gaza City, declaring the area a combat zone as it destroyed hundreds of residential buildings and forced Palestinians to flee en masse.

Abu Obeida was a key voice of the resistance in the Gaza Strip, releasing statements about battlefield updates, Israeli captives, prisoner swap deals, and Israeli crimes and violations during the relentless war on Gaza.

“We announce with pride and honor the martyrdom of fighter and commander Mohamed as‑Sinwar, Abu Ibrahim, chief of staff of the Izz al‑Din al‑Qassam Brigades,” al-Qassam spokesman said in a recorded speech, describing him as a “worthy successor to a worthy predecessor, and a man of exceptional intellect who led the Brigades through an extremely difficult period, succeeding the great martyr of the nation, Abu Khaled al‑Deif.”

The spokesman also announced the martyrdom of his noted predecessor Abu Obeida, identifying him by his real name, “Hudaifa Samir Abdullah al‑Kahlout, Abu Ibrahim.”

“He departed after two decades of defying the enemies and bringing glad tidings to the believers,” the spokesman said in extended remarks mourning Abu Obeida.

“Together with his brothers, he gave an honorable performance witnessed by friend and foe alike, conveying Al-Aqsa Flood’s developments and the heroism of Gaza fighters to the world in its finest form,” the spokesman added.

The spokesman also announced and mourned the martyrdom of Mohamed Shabana, commander of the Rafah Brigade, Hakam al-Issa, who held different key military positions, and Raed Saad, commander of the manufacturing division.

“The October 7th operation was a resounding explosion against injustice, oppression, siege, and all forms of aggression targeting Al-Aqsa Mosque and our people, transgressions that crossed every red line, ignored all warnings, and defied international resolutions and conventions,” the spokesman underlined.

“Our people are defending themselves and will not lay down their arms as long as the [Israeli] occupation is still there. They would never surrender, even if they were forced to fight with their bare hands,” the spokesman added.
