MSF: 25 new cases of severe malnutrition among children reported every day

GAZA, (Palestine Foundation Information Center) Doctors Without Borders (Médecins Sans Frontières, MSF) has sounded the alarm over a sharp increase in child malnutrition in Gaza, where the Israeli occupation army continues its genocide and starvation blockade.

MSF teams are reporting an average of 25 new cases of severe malnutrition among children every day, a number that has tripled in recent weeks.

Inas Abu Khalaf, MSF’s communications officer for the Middle East and North Africa, described the crisis as “catastrophic by all standards,” saying, “We have never seen a humanitarian disaster of this magnitude, even during previous wars.”

Abu Khalaf stressed that there is no safe place left in Gaza and that Israel is using food as a weapon of war. “Civilians, including infants, are being pushed into a daily war zone,” she said, noting that MSF has had to evacuate health centers due to continuous shelling.

She also denounced the so-called “Gaza Humanitarian Relief Foundation,” backed by Israel and the US, calling it a “cover for the continuation of daily killings.”

MSF urged an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, the lifting of the blockade, and full adherence to international humanitarian law.

According to Gaza’s Government Media Office, over 1,300 people have been martyred and thousands injured while attempting to access food near distribution points targeted by Israeli occupation forces.
