Nablus Clash: 4 Palestinians Wounded, Israeli Soldier Hurt in Exchange of Fire

NABLUS, (The Palestine Foundation Pakistan)

Four Palestinians were wounded on Thursday after Israeli occupation forces (IOF) stormed the city of Nablus, as the Israeli occupation military reported one of its soldiers was injured during its operations across several towns in the province.

The Palestinian Red Crescent said the number of wounded had risen to four, after its teams transferred two additional casualties, including a child shot with live ammunition in the abdomen. Two others had earlier suffered gunshot wounds to their lower limbs.

Israeli media said a reserve soldier was injured after what they described as “gunfire from armed Palestinians toward a military force” during an IOF operation it claimed was aimed at “locating weapons and making arrests” in villages across the Nablus province.

In a statement, the Israeli military said its forces conducted a “large-scale operation” in multiple towns “deep within Nablus,” and that during an arrest in the city, “armed men opened fire at the force,” injuring the soldier.

Local sources reported that the raid began at dawn and lasted around 10 hours, targeting several neighborhoods in Nablus City. IOF units stormed the area around the National Hospital and Faisal Street, broke into commercial shops, and later expanded the operation into the Old City, where they fired live rounds and stun grenades amid heavy military deployment.

Residents said the IOF detained several young men near the National Hospital and raided the Haj Nimer Mosque in the Old City. Schools and institutions, including the Education Directorate, An-Najah University, and Nablus Municipality, suspended classes due to escalating tensions.

Raids also extended to the towns of Beita, Urif, and Beit Furik, south and east of Nablus, where the IOF carried out searches and assaults. In Beita, soldiers beat and injured a local resident before arresting 22-year-old Muhannad Dweikat from his family home.

Escalation beyond Nablus

In a separate development, IOF units closed off the village of Zabuba west of Jenin. Ashraf Maqalda, head of the village council, said military bulldozers blocked the main entrances with earthen mounds.

The IOF also set up a checkpoint at the entrance of the nearby village of Ti’inik, causing long delays for Palestinian vehicles.

These incidents come amid a continuous escalation across the occupied West Bank, marked by daily raids, arrests, and violence targeting Palestinian communities.

Palestinian statistics show that attacks by IOF soldiers and settlers have resulted in the killing of 1,076 Palestinians and the injury of nearly 10,760 others, in addition to more than 20,500 arrests since October 7, 2023.
