JENIN (Palestine Foundation Information Center) The Palestinian Authority (PA) security forces assassinated on Saturday morning a noted resistance commander during a raid in Jenin refugee camp, north of the West Bank, as part of their security cooperation with the Israeli occupation.
Local sources said that Yazid Ja’aysa, who was killed by PA forces, was one of the prominent commanders of the Jenin Brigade, adding that the Israeli occupation forces had tried to assassinate him several times.
Since 4:00 a.m., PA forces have been carrying out a violent campaign in Jenin camp, amid intensive gunfire.
Eyewitnesses said that PA snipers opened fire at several homes, one ambulance and passersby in the streets, injuring four children and women, adding that a kid called Ahmed Mar’iee suffered a serious bullet injury.
Power outages also happened in different neighborhoods in the camp after PA soldiers opened fire at electrical transformers, while some cars went on fire or sustained damage during armed clashes with resistance fighters.
Meanwhile, PA forces have besieged hospitals in Jenin in order to arrest any wounded people transferred to them from the camp.
Resistance fighters, for their part, detonated explosive devices and opened fire at PA forces in the camp, while young protesters blocked roads with burning tires and rocks to obstruct the movement of PA security vehicles.
About 10 days ago, the PA security forces launched a security campaign in Jenin City and its refugee camp to eliminate any presence of resistance fighters in the area.
The PA leadership and its security services already rejected local initiatives to defuse the tension and stop further bloodshed in Jenin and insisted on continuing their violent and deadly raids in the province.
In a related context, the Hamas Movement has called on the factions and all the political, legal and human rights parties in the Palestinian arena to take a decisive stance against the PA security campaigns in Jenin and other West Bank areas.
In a statement on Saturday, Hamas mourned commander Yazid Ja’aysa, from the Jenin Brigade, who was assassinated by PA security forces in Jenin camp.
Hamas strongly denounced the PA security services for “targeting and arresting West Bank resistance fighters who are wanted by the Israeli occupation forces,” especially those from Jenin.
“The persistence of the PA security services in their disgraceful behavior, which goes against all our values and norms, is ringing the alarm bell and fueling internal differences we do need at such critical and fateful times in the history of our national cause, which are facing annexation and displacement schemes,” Hamas underlined.
