TULKAREM (Palestine Foundation Information Center) A Palestinian resistance fighter was martyred during clashes with the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Sunday evening in Nur Shams refugee camp, east of Tulkarem City.
According to the Palestinian health ministry, 20-year-old Iyas al-Akhras was shot dead by Israeli forces in Nur Shams camp.
The Red Crescent, for its part, said that its paramedics transferred al-Akhras to a hospital in Tulkarem City after he was fatally wounded.
Local sources said that al-Akhras was martyred during clashes at close range with Israeli forces in Nur Shams camp.
In a related context al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, announced that a group of its fighters was responsible for the shooting and ambush operation that targeted Israeli troops in Nur Shams camp on Sunday evening.
Al-Qassam Brigades mourned martyr al-Akhras, saying he was one of its fighters in Tulkarem.
At dawn Sunday, the IOF expanded its military operation in the northern West Bank and dispatched a large number of its troops to Nur Shams camp, where they attacked a civilian car, killing a 23-year-old pregnant woman along with her eight-month-old fetus and critically injuring her husband.
Later in the day, Israeli forces in the camp killed another young woman and injured her father when they exploded their house’s gate.
Other citizens also suffered bullet injuries during the IOF raid in Nur Shams camp.
