A 12-year-old Palestinian boy died on Monday of wounds he sustained about two weeks after being shot and seriously injured by Israeli occupation forces during a military raid in the Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank.
The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed that Mahmoud Mohammad Sammudi was hit in the stomach by an Israeli bullet during a military raid conducted about 12 days ago in the Jenin refugee camp and succumbed to his wounds on Monday.
In the September 28 military raid in Jenin, Israeli occupation forces killed four Palestinians and injured at least 44 others, including the 12-year-old boy.
The West Bank city of Jenin has been the center of Israeli aggressions and military operations in the few past months, with about 44 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli forces since the start of this year in Jenin alone, including Sammudi and Al Jazeera’s veteran journalist Shireen Abu Akleh, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. Forty of those martyrs were from Jenin, while three were from villages nearby.
Sammudi’s killing comes after four other Palestinian teenagers were also killed by Israeli forces in separate incidents in the West Bank over the weekend.
44 Palestinian children have been killed in 2022, according to documentation collected by Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCIP), including 27 Palestinian children shot and killed by Israeli forces or settlers in the occupied West Bank. DCIP documented the killing of 17 Palestinian children between August 5–7 after Israeli forces launched a military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
